Secondary 1
This course is an integrated programme combining reading comprehension, writing, and oral communication. It strengthens vocabulary and reading skills and supports a smooth transition from primary to secondary school. The course guides students toward extensive reading and deeper thinking, develops their analytical skills in reading comprehension, and teaches practical writing and composition techniques. It comprehensively enhances students’ overall Chinese learning abilities.

Secondary 2
This course is an integrated programme combining reading comprehension, writing, and oral communication. It focuses on distinguishing and accurately using words with similar meanings, increases the difficulty level of reading passages, and guides students toward deeper thinking. The course develops their analytical and summarisation skills, strengthens composition writing techniques, and provides oral communication training aligned with the O-Level oral examination format.

Secondary 3

Secondary 4
To better prepare students for the O-Level examination, we offer additional Oral and Composition Intensive Classes alongside the regular Reading Comprehension and Writing lessons. These classes address the most challenging areas students typically face. By incorporating past-year examination papers and common error types into simulated exam practices, students become familiar with question formats, master essential answering techniques, and prepare for O-level exams effectively.
Our Curriculum
for Secondary Chinese Classes
Vocabulary Enhancement
Designed for students with a weaker foundation in Chinese, this course aligns with school textbooks and required vocabulary. Using a “one lesson, one practice” approach, it helps students master essential words through activities such as Pinyin and vocabulary exercises, character recognition, word meaning explanations, and short passage fill-in-the-blank tasks. It also lays a solid foundation for answering reading comprehension questions and writing compositions.
Reading Comprehension & Writing
The secondary school Reading Comprehension and Writing course is based on secondary Chinese textbooks, with question types designed to align with the O-Level Chinese and Higher Chinese examinations.
The course primarily targets Paper 2 and the composition section, using integrated exercises to strengthen students’ language application skills. It develops students’ ability to analyze questions and master answering techniques.
Composition instruction covers strategies for writing effective practical texts and essays, training students in question analysis and essay structuring.
Students are encouraged to accumulate useful vocabulary, phrases, and writing materials through recommended reading, effectively improving their Chinese writing skills and enabling them to produce high-scoring compositions.
Oral & Composition
This course is a specialized programme designed for Secondary 3 and 4 students preparing for the O-Level examination, focusing on two key components: Oral Exam and Composition.
The curriculum selects frequently tested questions and incorporates current affairs topics, guiding students to think deeply and express their opinions in dialogues or writing exercises.
The Oral Exam component uses video dialogues and oral presentation training to familiarize students with common question types and response formats, building their confidence in spoken expression.
The Composition component provides continuous practice in practical writing and various essay genres, helping students master standard formats and writing techniques, and gradually develop proficiency in different types of compositions.

I’ve been studying at Huayi for a while, and it’s honestly one of the best tuition centres I’ve been to. The teachers are super patient and really take the time to explain concepts clearly. hey don’t just rush through the syllabus but make sure we actually understand what we’re learning. It’s a very supportive environment that really motivates me to improve. Highly recommend Huayi Thomson to anyone who wants serious results but still enjoys the learning process![]()

我们的孩子是在小五小六的时候送去华艺补习的,去之后明显感受到他对中文热情的增长,写作和口语表达都有进步。补习中心的老师善于因材施教,能根据孩子的性格和学习特点给予指导,也适当让孩子承担学习责任,帮助他建立自信与自律。这一点特别要感谢Thomson 分社的瑞鸿老师,孩子最后也在老师们的帮助下,经过自己的努力,考上了莱佛士书院。谢谢华艺书院的全体老师们。![]()
